Christian Collin, a life in pictures
1980s
Christian Collin has always been fascinated by the world of images and posters. In the 80s, his passion for the cinema first led him to film posters.
Something clicked when one day he came across a signed and numbered silkscreen by Enki Bilal. Curious, he went to meet his publisher: Christian Desbois, a famous gallery owner and publisher ofArtists ' images, who had shaken up the codes of 9th art by offering, ahead of their time, silkscreens, prints and lithographs by the great comic book artists, as well as original drawings on paper.
They soon realized their affinities and began collaborating together. The partnership lasted 25 years.
In 2010, following the death of Christian Desbois, he set himself a new challenge by continuing the publishing house on his own, while remaining faithful to his predecessor's credentials.
In 2013, "Christian Desbois Editions" became "Christian Collin Editions". He begins to develop digital pigment printing, which gives him access to unrivalled quality for signed prints in very limited editions.
In 2018, he opened his first Paris space in the 10th arrondissement, before finally settling in the 6th arrondissement, in the heart of the Latin Quarter.

Printing qualities
Pigment print
What is a Pigment print It is a direct inkjet digital printing technique that uses specific, high-quality pigment inks designed to be lightfast and long-lasting. When combined with extremely pure art papers, this technique guarantees extraordinary print results with brilliant colors, deep blacks, perfect rendering of contrasts and details, and impressive image depth.
Pigment ink printing is used for high-end art editions, exhibitions, and museum collections.
Screen printing
What is screen printing? Screen printing involves passing ink through the mesh of a screen (originally silk screens) using a squeegee to deposit it on the substrate to be printed. The colors are deposited in successive passes, one after the other. One of the advantages of screen printing is the ability to vary the ink deposit by using screens of varying mesh sizes. Silk-screen printing provides a high ink deposit, guaranteeing intense, long-lasting color and excellent opacity.
lithography
What is lithography It is a reproduction process that involves printing on paper using a press a text, drawing, or outline made with oil-based ink or a grease pencil on a limestone slab. To produce the print, the stone is first moistened. Because it is porous, it retains water. Ink is then applied to the stone; it adheres to the drawn areas and is repelled by the moisture in the other areas. Once the stone is sufficiently saturated with ink, a sheet of paper is placed on it, and then
the sheet is pressed. The result is a uniform print on the sheet. For color prints, the same process is repeated for each color you wish to show on the work. In fact, the same stone is rinsed, scraped, sanded and reused.
Offset art posters
What is offset art publishing? Offset printing is a mechanical printing process using plates to transfer an image onto a blanket cylinder (or offset cylinder), which is then printed onto paper. In offset printing, the colors of the base image are initially broken down into 4 primary colors: cyan, magenta, yellow and black, known as "four-color process". The colors are applied successively by the cylinders to the sheet of paper.
Offset printing is used for standard-quality printing and medium- to high-volume production.
Phototyping
What is phototypesetting? It's a flat printing process using inked gelatin. A layer of dichromate gelatin is applied to a glass plate under a negative. Phototypesetting enables continuous, un-screened printing. It is used for small runs (facsimiles of manuscripts, very fine reproductions of drawings and engravings).
