Jean-Pierre Lyonnet. Pigment print. *Les 3 villas*—limited, numbered edition—unsigned.
These three modern castles assert their presence with a keep—not as a military threat, but as a symbol of the area’s modernity (in fact, it is simply a staircase leading to a peaceful lookout point from which one can, nonetheless, keep an eye on the neighborhood). Built with unlimited resources for enlightened and wealthy clients (a couple of patrons of the arts, a fashion designer, and an industrialist), these three masterpieces nevertheless nearly failed to survive the passing of their owners. Long neglected, the Noailles (left) and Cavrois (right) villas have been restored and opened to the public. We eagerly await the person who will restore the house haunted by Paul Poiret (center), so that he may finally live there.
Printed on Canson Arches Velin Muséum 315g paper.
